School Choice Legislative Day

There was nearly 4,000 people who attended the "Rally for Real School Choice" held on the Gervais Street side of the State House February 13th, 2006.  Governor Sanford, Lt. Governor Bauer and Senator McConnell were some of the speakers for the event.

Governor Sanford began by thanking the crowd for being a whole lot of hands and collective voices.  He also thanked the crowd for standing up for real choice.  He mentioned that our military was trained and supported before they went into the battlefield and that we should not send our children into the battlefield of life without being fully equipped for the battle.

Lt. Governor Bauer stated that the House and Senate make choices everyday and that parents should be given the same opportunity to make choices in their lives that their representatives have on a daily basis.  He said that diversity, competition and innovation would be good for all. He encouraged the crowd to meet with their legislators and to be voices for school choice.
